Music at Carlton Miniott School
On 19th March the BBC brought three members of their Philharmonic Orchestra to our school as part of the Ten Pieces Project. Class 5 worked with the BBC team to produce their own version of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. Class 6 made their own film about `A Short Ride in a Fast Machine' and Class and 3 and 4 performed their own dance to this piece of music. Other children in school made animations to accompany this piece. The whole day was filmed and there is a good chance some of the film will be used in the BBC Ten Pieces Prom at The Royal Albert Hall in July.
We were lucky enough to be visited by a Jazz Trio. The children loved the interactive assembly and the Year 1 and Year 6 children who had a workshop with the musicians gave a superb performance at the end of the day.
Our choir and orchestra were busy at the end of last term.
Well done to all the singers and soloists of the choir, who sang beautifully at the Carol Service during the school day and on the evening of the last day of term - thank you for your dedication!
Thanks to the children of the orchestra, who came to the Christingle Service at St Mary's Church and played so enthusiastically. Our first combined orchestra with South Kilvington School was a great success!
